ISO-Font

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What is ISO-Font?
ISO-Font is a Windows-Standard-True-Type-Font to use on the PC. The characters are similar to the font defined by DIN EN ISO 3098-1 and -2 for technical drawings.
Which characters does it contain?
All characters of the Western-Europe and American characters including the German special characters (ß, ÄÖÜ etc.), further the Greek alphabet and some special characters including the € (Screenshot ).
Is the font specific for SolidWorks?
No. However, it was designed so that borders and the positioning on dimension lines are optimized for SolidWorks. It can be used in Word, Excel, Corel or any other application as well.
Text-borders are left and right too close to the characters. How can this be fixed?
Currently, the only solution is to add a space character to the left and right. We can't change it in the font because otherwise the characters would be much wider spaced.
If you also think SolidWorks should fix this please submit an Enhancement Request directly to SolidWorks.
How can I insert special characters into SolidWorks?
There are two possibilities:
One is to press [Alt] and enter the key-code on the number-block of your keyboard (e.g. 241 for ±). Unfortunately only a subset of the special characters can be inserted this way and SolidWorks does not have a table with the special characters for insertion like Corel or Word have. But here's the other possibility:
You cab use the dialog from MS-Word to insert special characters. The characters can be copied from Word and pasted into SolidWorks.

How much does ISO-Font cost?
